Jamie is a Certified Best Friends for Dementia Care Master Trainer and the Program Director at the Alliance.
The class is helpful to both professionals and family caregivers. Dementia Care Certificate (NURA2005 Nurse Aide Skills): Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. This course is designed to give caregivers an insight into the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, learn ways of communicating effectively and compassionately with a person who has dementia, introduce meaningful engagements into the day and create activities in the moment, deal with challenging behavior, and use a person’s Life Story to build happiness, reduce challenging behaviors and foster cooperation. (7 hrs.)
